Karma and Bhakti

We have asked Swami Pragyamurti to speak about Karma and Bhakti yoga, particularly within the context of the Satyananda Yoga System.
Karma yoga is the performance of actions without attachment to, or expectation of, the results of those actions. Bhakti is the expression of devotion and compassion. Both of these are key concepts in the Bhagavad Gita, and were strongly emphasised by Paramahamsa Satyananda in the form of Seva, or selfless service.

The weekend will also include core Satyananda yoga practices such as asana, pranayama and pratyahara, and yoga nidra.

Swami Pragyamurti

"Swami Pragyamurti Saraswati has been Director of the Satyananda Yoga Centre (London) for over forty years. Her interest in the spiritual path began in the sixties when she came into contact with the teachings of the Bihar School of Yoga and its founder, Swami Satyananda Saraswati. On Swamiji’s instructions she started teaching yoga in 1971 at her house in south London, which we now know as the Satyananda Yoga Centre.

Over the last twenty years Swami Pragyamurti’s main areas of work have included the establishment and teaching of a two year Yoga Teacher Training Course, working with people living with HIV/AIDS, and teaching yoga in prison where she feels strongly about the importance and relevance of yoga and meditation to the inmates.

Her warmth and wisdom demonstrate how the Indian tradition of Sannyasa can be integrated successfully with life in a busy Western city." - Satyananda Yoga Centre London

In our experience, Swami Pragyamurti is a truly inspiring practitioner and teacher of the essence of the Satyananda Yoga Tradition in particular, and a shining example of the benefits to be gained from truly following the path of Yoga in general. This is a remarkable opportunity to spend a weekend of practice and learning, at a price that we have tried to keep as low as is possible.

On the Weekend

Please note this is not a residential weekend (as reflected in the price!), and MADYA are unable to assist with arrangements for your accommodation. However, the Internet is a great source of information in this regard.

Also, please note that this seminar is at our OLD VENUE in Denton, 'The Green Park Centre'. For more information about the location of the venue, see here.

Please bring whatever you feel you would need for a normal yoga class, including mat, cushions, blankets, blocks etc.

Please also bring light lunch on both days. A selection of cold and hot drinks are available on site.
